Jitesh Sharma on Virat Kohli: I always kept distance from Virat Kohli, did not bother him: Jitesh Sharma

New Delhi. Star Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma played an important role in the first title win in the Indian Premier League of Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has said that he has respected his seniors a lot. When he saw Virat Kohli closely in the dressing room, he tried to avoid entering his private space. He did this because he did not want to disturb the senior. He believes that every big player wants to take some time for himself while he is always surrounded by someone.

Even though Jitesh and Kohli were not nearby in the batting order, both used to participate in the decision of captaincy on the field. Jitesh revealed that he had tried to keep a distance from Kohli because he is a very big player. Whenever he used to talk, he happened about cricket. He never tried to go further. “I come from a small town where you give great respect to your seniors. You do not interfere in their private space. It is a big thing for me to talk to him. I know what Virat Bhai’s height is, so I used to try why I should go to his personal place, why I bother.”

Jitesh said while talking to the Times of India. “I used to talk to him (Kohli) only about cricket. I kept my distance due to respect. I preferred to discuss with him only those things that I would benefit. I did not waste time in useless things.

In the middle of IPL 2025, Kohli believed, “A boy who is really fun but not open with me, is Jitesh. I really want to see that funny side. Because I can see in his eyes that he has a mischief in him.”

Jitesh had taught the art batsman the art of moving forward in difficult times and keeping himself under control. Jitesh was the fourth highest run -scorer for RCB. He scored 261 runs in 11 matches at an average of 37.28 and a strike rate of 176.35.
