New Delhi. The selection of the team is to be done soon for the Asia Cup. Before this, all the veterans are choosing their teams. Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has also released a list of 15 of his players. In view of Shubman Gill’s performance on England tour, he has given him a chance to Yashasvi Jaiswal in the Asia Cup. This tournament is to be played in T20 format in UAE this time between 9 and 28 September.

Kaif chose Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson as an opener and placed Gill as backup. Yashasvi Jaiswal has not been able to make a place in his team. On Friday, by sharing a video on his YouTube channel, he released a list of his 15 players. Kaif said, “Gill and Jaiswal can make only one place. I think he is entitled to this place given the performance of Shubman Gill as captain on England tour. Even in IPL he (Gill) he scored a lot. Maybe not be in the playing XI but he should be named in the team as a backup opener.”

For the backup wicketkeeper, the former Indian cricketer chose Jitesh Sharma. In IPL 2025, this player impressed a lot for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kaif said, “If I talk about the backup opener, there is a tough competition between Gill and Jaiswal, but only one can be selected. You also need a backup wicketkeeper and I am looking at Jitesh Sharma’s name.”
