Asia Cup 2025 Playing XI: Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma will start the innings, Sanju Samson will have to sit out, Ajinkya Rahane chose the playing XI

New Delhi. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar made it clear after the Asia Cup team selection that there was no discussion in the name of Shubman Gill. He had to give a place in the team as a vice -captain, because the last time he played, he was fulfilling this responsibility. If he was not available for selection, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson started the innings. This made it clear that Sanju Samson can be seen playing as the third opener in the Asia Cup.

With Shubman Gill joining the team for the Asia Cup 2025, the question arises as to who will open for the Indian team. Both Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma have been very successful in scoring runs and maintaining good tempo. With Gill returning to the team, there is a possibility that one of them may have to leave the place. Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane said that Gill and Abhishek will open in the Asia Cup.

Rahane said on his YouTube channel, “Shubman is back in the team, I am sure he will open with Abhishek Sharma. Personally, I would like to see Sanju Samson in the team because he has really performed well. Very confident person, are very good team men. I think it’s very important thing,”

He further said, “Sanju is a great team man, but this is a very good problem for team management. In my opinion, perhaps Sanju Samson will sit out, although as I said, I would like to play him and see him in the playing XI. But Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma will open for the team.”

Rahane also expressed his curiosity to see Jaspreet Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh playing together. “I am really excited to see Jaspreet Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh bowling together in this Asia Cup. We don’t want to talk much about Jaspreet Bumrah. We all know how dangerous he is. Arshdeep Singh, Arsheep Singh, is a very confident person, can swing the ball on both sides.
